I know that I have been rotten at posting lately, but it is not because I haven't had anything to post! I guess it is because I am either just lazy or that I've been addicted to the "Knighthood" game on Facebook. Either way, I apologize to my adoring fans (yes, all three of you).
Anywho, two weeks ago, Tim and I made a little day trip to Philadelphia to see a couple of museums and just spend a fun day away. Everyone needs a little something every now and then. (I find that I seriously need to escape NY about once every two months or so - this place is pretty heavy duty sometimes!) Philly is about an hour and a half/two hour drive away, so this was a do-able trip. We had a super time! We visited the Philadelphia Mint and saw how coins are made (free, yes-sir-ee) and we had lunch at a Chick-fil-a (worth the trip alone) and then we went over and spent most of the day at the Franklin Institute, which is a children's hands-on museum that is incredible.
The Franklin Institute was a blast! We walked through, doing all the things the little kids were doing (shameless, aren't we?). One of my favorite things they had was a giant heart that you could walk through - similar to the one I remembered back at the science museum in Savannah Ga, where I grew up. I used to think that was the coolest. They also had an awesome aeronautical section that we enjoyed.
We mainly went to visit the Franklin Institute to see the
Star Wars Exhibit they had going on, which was top notch! They had real costumes, robots, and props from the filming of all six films, including Princess Leia's white robe and Han Solo's McHotty outfit (I made similar costumes for us for Halloween back in 2002 - they look pretty good, don't they?!?). They even had a hover-craft that you could ride! Tim and I knew we were geeks, but it sure was a whole lot of fun. (See the post below for a short video of the pictures we took in the exhibit.)
After the exhibit, Tim rode the air bike, which was suspended FOUR stories high. (I didn't do it because it said "no children or pregnant women." I know I could have done it anyway because I'm not showing too much yet, but okay... I was too chicken. Whatever.) We left the museum around four-ish and grabbed a famous Philly Cheese Steak at Pat's and went to a really cool baby consignment shop, then headed home. A nice full day of adventure without a vacation price tag. And I'm so glad I had my best friend to travel with.

oh my gosh, that is one crazy bike. kudos to Tim for riding it, but I think I probably would have just watched with you - biting my fingers. You guys take the best trips. I can't wait to come see you guys. Much love.
What fun!! I would love doing things like that but by the time the weekend rolls around here Mike and I are both so tired that we just mainly make it to church and that it about it!! So glad that you and Tim could have such fun...Sandy
