We Love You

Tim, you are a most excellent daddy to these three little buggers. I hope they appreciate you as much as I do!  I love you, babe.  Hope you had a special Father's Day.  You are a special person to us.

Roaring Father's Day

What is better than having perfect weather, celebrating the man you love, playing dress up, meeting up with two of your favorite people, and having a picnic at a cool place you've never been but have wanted to visit for a while?!?  Well, not much else! 

This year for Father's Day, I surprised Tim with a fun trip to Governor's Island for the Jazz Age Lawn Party and it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!  We had such a great time.  My brother Andy and his fiance Rachel met up with us along the way and we took the ferry over.  The boys were so excited to see those two - Charlie had been talking about "DeeDee and Rayrul" for the whole week prior to the event.  We got all dolled up in our best 1920's outfits and packed a yummy picnic for the outing. 

It turns out that we weren't the only ones to have this idea... this place was PACKED!  And so many people were dresses to the nines.  It was a costumer's dream.  There was a big band playing, a dance floor, tons of vintage clothing and magazine booths, and some fun food vendors.  There were all sorts of folks that brought along vintage games and incredible picnic spreads.  There was even a really cool vintage photo booth!  We waited in that line for maybe 45 minutes - sheesh.  But hopefully it was worth it.  We'll get the vintage photo's soon.  There was even a 1920 bathing suit contest.  Too cute.  It really was quite a spectacle. 

After the Lawn Party, we rented a quad bike and rode around the island, all six of us!  Here are some pictures of the day to enjoy...

Father's Day Bomgardner Style

We had a great day planned for Tim this year. It just so happened that this year Father's Day was also our 12th anniversary, so much of our plans got inadvertently scrapped due to Tim's prior anniversary plans - no complaints here! Anyway, we cheesed it up this time around, especially since Oz is old enough now to sort of understand doing nice things for people. We all wore ties (yes, I learned the night before how to tie a Pratt tie - booya) and I made the sweet Martha Stewart origami card - see this link - and printed out some super cute tie decorations to populate the lunch spread I whipped up for the fellas. Check it out...



Why yes that is a fluffanutter sandwich cut into the shape of a neck tie. And yes, those are tiny pieces of cheese cut into shirt and ties. That equal love. I think Tim was quite surprised.

The best present of all though was the treasure box that Oz and I compiled for Tim. It contained hand tracings of both boys, two rocks with googly eyes that Oz painted (one of himself and one of Charlie), a watercolor painting Oscar did for his daddy, and a whole bunch of Oscarisms that I'd been compiling for a little while now. I'll share my favorite:
"Daddy is a good daddy because he wants to cook. And daddy gives bear hugs."
"Daddy is a work motorcycle. I'm a blue and brown motorcycle. We drive fast through the yellow lights." (That one slightly troubled me...)
"Daddy has two brains. That means he's really smart."
"Daddy can fix it. He uses a drill."
And my most favorite one:
"I love daddy in the whole wide world!!!"
So sweet.
