Busy Baggage
I've been seeing these "busy bags" popping up all over my favorite mommy blogs and I've really been liking this idea. Basically, it's an quietish activity with all the components in a baggie that you can pull out and do with your kiddo. It could be anything from color wheel match-ups to beads to playdough mats - whatever. The beauty of it is in the portability of the activity and the fact that all the "ingredients" are already together in a handy dandy bag!
I just did a few easy things for my little people... I tried this pom pom jar with swimming success for BOTH boys (Oz liked "teaching" Charlie how to do it). I also printed out a number wheel for Oz. We'll see how that one goes. I'm also printing out these fun playdough play mats.
Want to see some more cool busy bags? I'm starting a pinterest page for ideas I'm digging. Here is an idea collage of some bags that I want to try out...
Top Row Button Snake... Felt Cupcake... Paint Swatch Color Matching...
Middle Row Dry Erase Mazes... Stoplight Bean Bag Toss... Counting Color Wheel...
Bottom Row Alphabet Tracing... Mini Felt Board... Yarn and Sandpaper Loom...
*** So... I just read over at Modern Parents Messy Kids about moms doing busy bag swaps and I think this is GENIUS. The bags aren't hard to put together, but just time-consuming to gather all the different parts. What a great idea to host a swap and have everyone make one type of bag for 10+ people and then everyone gets 10+ different bags! I don't know enough crafty mommas to do this locally, but would any of you guys like to do this? I would say it should probably be a bag geared for preschool-aged little people. Any takers? I would totally host such a thing. Leave me commentary.
