Hard at Work

House update:

We closed on our house Friday morning and are now proud home owners!  And we have been burning the midnight oil every night since to try and get stuff done so we can move in.  Friday afternoon, we ripped up the nasty old carpets that were on the first floor for 40+ years and spend the day cleaning and taking out floor staples and whatnot.  All day yesterday and today, Tim has been sanding the floors down and tonight he started putting on walnut wood stain.  I think it is going to look very cool.  The floors are old (1922 is when the house was built), so we've tried to be true to the original character by not making it look like "new" perfect floors.  I love the rustic look to worn and loved floors.  I can't wait to see what it will all look like once we have the poly on it.  Here is a sneak peek at what we've been up to...

And do you notice how nicely that window has been painted?  Well, I've been the window painter.  Can I just say how much I HATE painting windows?!?  It takes for-freaking-EVER.  But you should have seen what the before-before pictures looked like.  Oh wait... Here is that same corner window!

You can't tell it, but everything here in this picture is a shade of green.  The ceiling, walls, trim, AND carpet.  Odd.  The house has come a LONG way in just a few days.  I can't wait to show more pictures!

(And a special thank you to my mom for watching two crazy little boys so that Tim and I could get so much done in a weekend.  There is a special place in heaven for good grandmas and "divas.")
